S. Reshetnikov is the founder of scientific school in the methodology of political processes, policy analysis and the decision-making theory. His main teaching and research interests focus on questions of political science methodology, political processes and institutes, the public policy and public administration, the political decisions theory.

Career

S. Reshetnikov graduated from Grodno Pedagogical Institute, History Faculty in 1972. He took a post-graduate course in 1975, then he worked for a number of years in the Grodno Pedagogical Institute, where he held the position of a senior lecturer.
Sergei Reshetnikov got his degree in philosophy in 1981 and then joined the BSU. He was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in 1986.
From 1993 to present he is Head of Political Science Department at Faculty of Law, Belarusian State University.
Sergei Reshetnikov defended the doctoral thesis in Political Science in 1995. Since 1997 he has been the first doctor of Political Sciences in Belarus.
In 2000-2005 he combined teaching and heading Political Science Department with the guidance of Institute of Public Administration (The Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus).

S. Reshetnikov is the author or editor of more than 170 papers and has published widely in national and international journals. His recent publications include «Political Science in BSU: Theoretical and Methodological Aspects» (2009), «Theoretical Aspects of the Functional Analysis of Political Decisions in a Classical Political Science» (2010), «Public Policy and Administration in Belarus» (2010), Political Science: Reader. In 2 parts (2010), co-authored with Nina Antanovich and others, «Political Science: Course book» (2011), co-authored with Nina Antanovich and others.
1. Political Science in BSU: Theoretical and Methodological Aspects. The author reveals the essence and content of the current stage of development of Political Science in the Republic of Belarus as an academic and scientific discipline. The monograph is addressed to specialists in political science, both undergraduates and postgraduates. It can be used for teaching at universities and research institutions.
2. Theoretical Aspects of the Functional analysis of Political Decisions in a Classical Political Science. The article deals with the central themes of the structure of political theory: the theories of power distribution. The Key concepts at this level of analysis are: influence, power, political institutions, decision- making processes, models of power distribution. The article examines the theoretical approach that deals with the explanations of the functional analysis. One type of school which deals with analysis has developed the theories based on classical political science. The central themes of the second type of school is decision – making theory.
4. Public Policy and Administration in Belarus. The manual reveals the essence and content of the present stage of development of political science in the Republic of Belarus as an academic and scientific discipline. The manual is addressed to law students, students majoring in Political Science.
5. Political Science: Reader. In 2 parts (2010), co-authored with Nina Antanovich and others. The edition includes the texts of the classics of political thought and scholars of the second half of XX century, supplemented with biographical information on authors, as well as a summary of the socio-political ideas of researchers.
6. Political Science: «Course book» (2011), co-authored with Nina Antanovich and others. Such essential sections of political science as «The theory and methodology of political science», «Political institutes in Belarus», «Political processes in Belarus and the modern world», «The International political relations and geopolitics» are revealed on the basis of the system approach. The course book is added by new section «The State policy and management in Belarus».
